This notice explains what personal information Southern Stars Safaris collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website, our enquiry and booking process, and how we communicate with you.

Our Information Officer is the person you should contact about anything to do with your personal information.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through our booking form or contact us by email or WhatsApp, we collect:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Your phone number (including the WhatsApp number you give us)
- The lodge or accommodation where you are staying
- Your city and country of residence
- The number of guests in your party
- The safari you are interested in, your preferred dates and your safari goals
- Anything else you choose to write in your message
We need your country of residence because Kruger National Park charges different conservation fees to South African and international visitors.
We do not collect or store card or bank details. Payments are made directly between you and us by bank transfer or cash.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry and give you a quote
- To arrange and run your safari, including pickup at your accommodation
- To contact you about your booking before, during and after your safari
- To meet the requirements of park authorities and our legal, accounting and tax obligations
We do not use your information for marketing unless you have specifically agreed to it, and we do not sell your information to anyone.
Who we share it with
We only share what is necessary, and only with:
- Your accommodation or lodge, where it is needed for pickup arrangements
- Park or tourism authorities, where the law or park rules require it
- Service providers who help us run our business, such as our booking and email providers
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
How long we keep it
- If your enquiry does not lead to a booking, we keep it for up to 12 months and then delete it.
- If you book with us, we keep your booking records for 5 years, as required for accounting and tax purposes.
- If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will do so unless we are legally required to keep it.
Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need
- Object to how we are using your information
- Withdraw any consent you have given us
To do any of these, email our Information Officer at travis@southernstars.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable time, and normally within 30 days.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforeg.org.za.
